tough day...

Okay so my day started with a meeting about a student who is not doing ANY work. Talked with mom and other staff about options and we came up with some new strategies to try. Amazingly, today she did all her work! YEAH!! However, later today, one of my most reliable students was cheating...I watched her in disbelief as she blatantly erased her answers and copied from another student. So disappointed and when it all came down to it, her original answers--her own answers--were the correct ones. She cheated and changed them to the wrong answers and ended up with a 0 for cheating. Natural consequences are tough, but the best teacher sometimes...I hope she learned a lesson. maybe then it was worth it...
Until next time...

Great News!

Lots of great news today...First of all, it is Friday and it is a 3-day weekend. What could get better than that--other than Summer Break, of course...but even better, it looks like my mom is going to be moving closer to me! I am so glad. I know that she has been lonely since my dad died...by having her closer, I can visit her often AND we can shop and scrapbook and laugh and whatever!

Other good news I haven't shared on my blog yet...I am going to be a mimi to 3! I was so caught off guard. I didn't even get it when my daughter gave my husband and me a pacifier...Can you say "brain fluffy?" They had to explain it to me and I was still in shock! I didn't even know they were trying. Anyway, looking forward to the arrival in a few months. There is nothing like a grandchild! So much easier than being a parent, right? Being a grandparent totally rocks...being a parent often sucks!!

And finally, I lost two pounds this week...got lots more to go, but at least I didn't gain any! And this weekend I am going to spend lots of time scrapping and making cute watchbands...love being creative! Hopefully I won't snack too much and gain those two pounds back!!

Happy Friday, All!!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my husband! His birthday was actually Friday, but we celebrated with family and friends today. Had lots of fun and found out that we will be grandparents for the third time! My daughter is having another blessing. I was thrown totally off guard though...had not a clue so when she gave my husband a gift bag with a pacifier in it, I didn't get it. How lame is that!

I think the main thing I am wishing for besides a healthy baby is more energy!! How the heck am I gonna babysit 3 little kids??? I guess the same way as always...you just do what you have to!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to the weekend...

...But I guess, who isn't?? Tough day at school today...just so busy! However, I got my evaluation back this morning and it was probably the best eval I have ever gotten. That sure felt good! I do love my school this year and I have a really great group of kids for the most part. Just so many of them! I got two new students this week which brings me to 32 in my homeroom. It is so hard to meet the needs of each kid with that many. The other 6th grade class, which I teach as well for reading and science, has 31. That means I really have 63 students I am responsible for in some way or another. Sometimes it is little overwhelming!

Gonna have my husband's bday party on Sunday...that should be fun. We are trying to keep it "lite" since we ate so much over the holidays...I think we are going to do a variety of salads and soups...sounds pretty tasty, doesn't it? Then, my granddaughter will have a sleepover so that she can carpool with me to work on Monday. I think the best part of the day will be spending time with her and her little brother. Is there anything better than being a grandparent?? I think not!

My worst fears realized...

Okay, so I didn't want to be a lame blogger, but apparently I am. I hate that! My life is just so busy, but I have decided that I am going to be more committed to blogging. I want to get things down in writing.

Quick story for today...my granddaughter, who is really something else, told me today that in class (first grade) she did her math in her brain while she was watching TV in her mind! Where the heck does she come up with this stuff? I feel so fortunate that she is at my school and we get to be carpool buddies everyday. I never know what she is going to say or do and it sure makes my morning and afternoon drive fun!
